Bloodborne Pathogen Awareness training is an OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirement that provides awareness to any occupation with potential exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.

Course attendees will learn about bloodborne pathogens, where they are found, symptoms of exposure, and the transmission of various bloodborne diseases and routes of entry. The topic will also explain misconceptions, preventing infections, using personal protective equipment and handling sharps and spills.

  • What are bloodborne pathogens
  • Prevention & control measures
  • How microorganisms are transmitted
  • Components of an Exposure Control Plan
  • Responding to incident exposure of infection material
  • Proper use and handling of personal protective equipment

Course attendees must complete a written test.  Upon successful completion, attendees will receive a certificate of completion wallet card valid for three (3) years. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure employees are properly trained by a qualified person on specific bloodborne hazards and safe work procedures prior to the commencement of work activities.
