Workplace fires and explosions account for over 200 deaths and injure upwards of 5,000 workers each year across the United States.  In addition, more than 2.5 billion dollars are lost in property damage. Fire is often the biggest safety risk any businesses will face. Employers shall adequately train all employees in fire safety.  Some insurances may not be valid without proper employees training, leaving you and your company vulnerable to catastrophic consequences.

Course attendees will learn about OSHA’s Fire Protection standards and how they relate to your workplace. Fire prevention and protection training is not only a legal requirement, it also saves lives and protects businesses.

  • What to do if a fire occurs
  • Alarm systems and signage
  • Safe housekeeping practices
  • Combustibles & flammables
  • Emergency evacuation procedures
  • How to use fire extinguishers & equipment
  • Health hazards associated with smoke inhalation
  • Different types of fire extinguishers and purpose
  • Preparation, prevention, and recognition of fire hazards
  • Basic precautions for preventing fires and protecting workers
  • How to avoid injuries and property damage from workplace fires
  • Reporting procedures to local Fire Department or response team

Refresher training may also be needed when:

  • There is an incident or a near miss
  • Conditions change in the workplace which could affect safety
  • Employee has been observed performing tasks in an unsafe manner
  • Significant time has passed, and the employee’s abilities may require retraining

Course attendees must complete a written test.  Upon successful completion, attendees will receive a certificate of completion wallet card valid for three (3) years. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure employees are properly trained by a qualified person on specific fire hazards and safe work procedures prior to the commencement of work activities.
